Minerva cervical thoracic collar
Minerva Cervical Thoracic Orthosis with occipital components limits flexion, extension, and rotation of the cervical region while also supporting the upper spine. Minerva brace for neck and upper back injuries stabilizes the spine so that healing can take place in these sensitive regions following an injury or surgery. Features occipital component with optional forehead strap for increased immobilization and vented panels and open design promotes airflow and increases patient comfort.

Application Instructions:
- Log roll patient to one side assuring that the head and neck position is maintained.
- Place posterior thoracic and occipital component into position. Loosen adjustment knobs then position components to the desired location and retighten
- Uprights may be shaped by bending over bed rail if necessary. Posterior thoracic component: Fit to clear inferior angle of the scapula. Occipital component: Should be placed for maximum total contact by shaping the aluminum spine element.
- Log roll the patient back to supine. Place anterior thoracic/chin piece component in place. Loosen knobs and position components to the desired location and retighten. Engage cervical straps and adjust as necessary and tighten knobs. Apply strap stops.
- Adjust thoracic belt circumference, remove alligator hook and loop fastener clip and trim excess. This may be facilitated with a quick-release buckle in place. Attach forehead strap with inferior edge placed approximately 1 cm superior to eyebrows.
- Adjust upright as necessary and tighten knobs.
- Superior edge flairs should be fit at sub-costal margin.
NOTE: After all adjustments have been made, it is recommended that the brace is removed and Loctite 414 applied using all precautions necessary.
Cleaning and Care:
- Remove the rigid components.
- The rigid components can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
- Softgoods can be hand washed in warm water (90°F – 110°F or 32°C – 43°C) with mild detergent.
- Triple rinse, squeeze, and air dry.
- Avoid twisting the material to remove water.
