Sinapi 2000ml Urine Bag with 500ml Urine Meter

Description

SINAPI URIMETER

The non-invasive SINAPI Urine Meter (SUM) is intended for use, in conjunction with an inserted urine catheter, in any patient requiring strict monitoring of urine output, e.g. in post-operative and critically ill patients. It is a sterile, single use medical device intended to drain and collect fluid from the bladder. The Sinapi urine meter is manufactured from polymers with hydrophobic properties. In the rigid container, collected fluid is measured and recorded hourly (device volumes are approximate). Thereafter this container is emptied into the larger collection bag and fluid from the next hour is collected.

SET UP

1. Use the hooks to hang the urine meter on the bed frame.
2. Obtain urine samples from the rigid container by collecting urine in a jug (or by using a luer lock syringe) FIG (1). Rotate tap anti-clockwise to open and clockwise to close.
3. Empty the contents of the rigid container into the bag by lifting the bottom of the container into a horizontal position so that the urine flows through the opening FIG (2).
4. Observing universal precautions, drain the bag by rotating its tap anti-clockwise to open. Rotate clockwise to close FIG (3).
5. Obtain urine samples from the needle free sampling port in the catheter connector by swabbing the port surface with an alcohol swab. Insert the luer slip syringe into the port and draw up the required sample volume. Remove the syringe FIG (4).

COMPLICATIONS
Although urinary tract infections (UTI) are associated with urine catheter contamination, whether during insertion or management; with long-term catheterization, urine meters may also become a source of infection due to biofilm formation

NOTE: Device volumes are approximate.
